Curfew; a very nice short-movie

After 19 minutes, i want to see this short-movie again. Feel like, how could it be so nice and great, not to say it is very touchy also. And i have been so long not to have seen this kind of short-movie. Maybe the writer/director Shawn  Christensen can make it be a feature-length and i can not wait too watch it too still.

"I am Richie, and i am your uncle," - richie
"I dont care" -sophia

When Richie (Shawn Christensen) meet Sophia (a brilliant Fatima Ptacek), we audience laugh a bit. The awkward moment, since that their first meeting after so long. Richie is not seeing sophia since his sister not allow him to because of the incident he made when sophia was a child.

And that night, maggie does not have a choice rather than call her brother to keep an eye of sophia. ‘deadly last choice to call’.

“its on the list, we go there and here’s the money” -sophia

So, Richie just follow. But, not really. Soon, sophia become a very good friend. They talk, and talk. One thing that Richie missed before, now he got to find it back. Break the loneliness. But then, the time is up, sophia must go back home, and there, he met his sister again. Still not allowing him to meet sophia another day.

“i do not want sophia has another ‘false idol’ – maggie.
"we grow up. we change, i  change. but, something never changed, you are still the coolest sister i ever have," – richie.

And then richie back to his first scene, doing suicide.

It is nice to see the relationship between uncle and niece in this movie. Both Shawn and Fatima has a chemistry to portray the character. We see them laugh and fight like the real uncle –niece who never meet so long. Awkward for the first but then smooth at the end.

What i like the most is the cinematography. Sometimes closeup to express the feelings of the character. Sometimes landscape to see it to look great. One of the best scene in my mind is when sophia all of sudden want to dance when she hear the intro of her favorite song. Thats the best moment.

Both of the main character act great and outstanding which make this movie look so natural and I as the audience really get into it for a while. For 19 minutes. And want to watch it back again. *
